Yew Lily 11
Native Pacific Yew 8.25" W x 2.5" H purchase at The Center for Art in Wood
When cutting a Yew trunk, cross-wise, one finds a flower. Give the slice shape and depth; it becomes more botanical. Here, Walnut ties bind the cracks. Bark and creamy sapwood frame the orange heartwood.
My finishes bring ones touch closer to the wood. This oil/wax finish will dull overtime when in contact with moisture. But being used is a good thing. Yew will darken with age.
